Art as a solution to waste

30 September 5 October

Art can be a powerful tool promoting solution to waste by creating products designed with sustainability in mind. Besides, I shall be doing several activities for children in different venues around Malta, promoting circular economy in woodcraft.

At St James Cavalier, I shall exhibit 3 works of art made from recycled timber, namely, walnut, swietenia and small pieces of leftover timber. The concept behind the first 2 art works is Leonardo da Vinci flying machine. They resemble a bat in mid-flight.

The 3rd sculpture is a bird. A true example of circular economy in art, giving waste a new meaning and value. This bird sculpture is made with extreme economy on the use of material.

The design is smooth and abstract with flowing lines that create the overall shape of a bird in a resting position. A free form and inspiring design, giving the bird a warm and earthly appearance.

It fills my heart with immense joy to see discarded timber transformed into such beautiful artwork. This motivates me to keep exploring circularity, turning unwanted wood into timeless, one of a kind piece. Beyond creating art, I take pride in sending such work around the world, sharing the positive energy of circularity.
