Malta’s Sustainable Development Action Days: Shaping together the future we want are held in Malta as part of the European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW). The ESDW is a European-wide week full of events, activities and projects which are aimed at promoting and raising awareness on Sustainable Development and the related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the general public.

The ESDW provides a contributory influence to the 2030 Agenda by stimulating the organisation of bottom-up activities that are related to the SDGs. Therefore, the ESDW aims to raise awareness on the 2030 Agenda in Europe and in this regard it brings into play local stakeholders to actively engage with Sustainable Development, in general, and the SDGs, in particular. The ESDW is held every year between 18 September and 8 October, with the core week falling between 20 and 26 September. The events may vary from year to another as Member States would preferably need to reflect the SDGs that will be covered by the UN’s High-Level Political Forum for that particular year.

Malta participated in this Europe-wide initiative for the first time in 2018. Since then a number of events were successfully held every year during the ESDW. It intends to continue participating in this initiative in the coming years and join other European countries in organising events which effectively raise public awareness on Sustainable Development and the related SDGs.
