Sustainable School Award

Highlight efforts made by schools in order to increase the sustainability of their premises and operations. Applicants under this category can consider:

  • Efforts to successfully integrate the teaching of sustainable practices within the school curriculum.
  • Efforts to involve the students directly to transform the school into a sustainable one by engaging in practices such as green spaces, promoting clean energy, encouraging equality etc.
  • Efforts to inspire other fellow schools to adopt their sustainability projects.
  • Efforts to ensure the well-being of staff and students by advocating a healthy lifestyle. This includes the promotion of nutritious meals, exercise, importance to mental health etc. 
  • Efforts to make sure that the school’s population feels included and respected, specifically students and staff from marginalised backgrounds.
  • Efforts to offer quality education to see their students secure decent work.
  • Any other efforts of schools that are leading by example in integrating sustainability into their physical spaces, administrative systems and daily routine.

This award will apply specifically to stakeholders that are:

  • Primary, Secondary and Post-Secondary schools (state, church and private)

Awards

Those placing first will be awarded a €2000 monetary prize and a trophy. Those placing second and third will be awarded a trophy.
