Opening of Wied Dalam Ecological Restoration

The opening of Wied Dalam as an extension to the Għar Dalam visitor experience, reflects Heritage Malta’s commitment to the sustainable management and interpretation of both cultural and natural heritage. Through conservation works, habitat restoration, improved accessibility, and the creation of a safe visitor route, the valley has been carefully restored and made accessible to the public while safeguarding its archaeological, ecological, and environmental significance.

The initiative offers visitors a peaceful natural setting in which to experience and appreciate the landscape surrounding Għar Dalam, enhancing their understanding of the relationship between the cave, the valley, and Malta’s natural history.

By restoring the habitat and encouraging responsible enjoyment of this unique environment, the project contributes to the protection of cultural and natural heritage, biodiversity conservation, sustainable tourism, and environmental education.

The opening event will include guided tours of the valley as well as activities targeted for children related to learning about the natural environment and sustainability.
