A flagship 19 km trail race will be held along Malta’s historic Victoria Lines, defined by challenging terrain and Mediterranean scenery.
Part of the Trail Running League 2026, the Victoria Lines 19K (V19K) is widely regarded as Malta’s flagship trail running event. The race follows the historic Victoria Lines, known as the “Great Wall of Malta”, a 19th‑century fortification system stretching across the island from east to west. It offers a blend of challenging terrain, striking scenery and cultural heritage, creating a distinctive Mediterranean trail running experience.
The V19K covers approximately 19 kilometres with around 467 metres of elevation gain, making it suitable for both competitive trail runners and recreational athletes seeking an international challenge. The route guides participants along ridges, valleys and countryside paths, providing panoramic views while showcasing one of Malta’s most significant historical landmarks.
The event attracts athletes from across Europe and beyond, combining racing with the opportunity to explore Malta’s culture, history and hospitality. October provides favourable running conditions, and visitors can also enjoy UNESCO World Heritage sites, historic cities such as Valletta and Mdina, coastal landscapes and a wide range of accommodation options supported by convenient flight connections.
The Victoria Lines 19K will take place on Sunday, 4 October 2026 in Malta, forming part of the Trail Running League 2026. Whether aiming for a competitive result, preparing for future races or seeking a memorable sporting experience abroad, participants will find a compelling combination of sport, heritage and adventure along this iconic route.
